Home Humidifier Installation

by G&S Mechanical:

With emphasis on repair not replacement

I Get lots of inquiries about the Hermidifier Home Humidifier 707 and how it works.
The Hermidifier works by atomizing the water and blowing it into the return duct where all the crud in the water gets trapped in the air filter. Assuming you are going to replace your air filter every month this should not be a problem.
These units last a very long time because they don't have a media pad to crap up with lime (calcium) from the city water like a conventional humidifier.
Many companies shy from selling them because they are so trouble free and prefer to sell April Air Skuttle or Carrier.
The average life of a normal media wheel humidifier is about three years. It installed then used for about three years until it craps up then it is abandoned for a few more years. At which time a dry winter will prompt the home owner to replace the unit again.
We can obtain these units and install them for you if you live in the  Baltimore Washington Area. the cost is about $400 depending on existing equipment and what must be done to install.
The Hermidifier will not cause such problems because they are so easy to clean and simple to repair.
If you do install a humidifier either this brand or another please DO NOT use one of those saddle valves (the ones that pierce the pipe). They take 1 minute to install and about 1 hour and $100 or more to remove. Please install a toilet shut off valve and convert it from 3/8 inch compression to 1/4 inch compression or you can buy from The Home Depot or Lowes one that has both 3/8 and 1/4 outlets. A good place to install a valve is on the water heater downstream from the shutoff. If the valve on the water heater will not shut off replace it with a ball valve at this time.
The same goes for your refrigerator ice maker too but the best place for that is under the kitchen sink on the cold water line so you can cut the water off to service the filter even if you have to go through the basement.
A company that make a unit that looks like the hermidifier but seems to be even better is made by Walton Labs. http://www.waltonlabs.com/index.html
And the best part is you can order it right from them if you want and we will be glad to install it or help you do it.
